Every founder deserves to own their search results

When someone searches your product, your name or your competitors, something is going to rank. UneedLists exists so that at least one of those results is a page you control, pointing at a site you own.

What a listing does

  • 1

A page that can actually rank

Your product page is static HTML served from the edge, with the full content in the initial response — no client-side rendering for a crawler to wait on. It carries Product, SoftwareApplication, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and Person structured data in a single connected @graph, so search engines understand not just what the page says but how it relates to you and your other work.

  • 2

Do-follow links that are worth having

Verified products and verified founder profiles get genuine do-follow links. Unverified profiles get rel="ugc nofollow", and paid placements always get rel="sponsored". That discipline is the point: a directory that follows every link it is handed gets discounted wholesale, and then nobody's backlink is worth anything.

  • 3

A profile that ranks for your name

Founder pages are built to compete for "<your name>" queries — long-form bio, launch history, verified sameAs links to your other profiles, and explicit authorship links to everything you have shipped. For a common name, those disambiguation signals are what let a search engine connect the page to the right person.

A link graph, not a list

Every product links to its categories, tags, founders, alternatives, comparisons, collections and launch week — and each of those links back. A crawler entering anywhere reaches everything, which is what turns a directory into an asset instead of a stack of orphaned pages.

    Pages that keep working

Weekly archives are never unpublished. Alternatives and comparison pages regenerate as the catalogue grows. A launch page from two years ago is still indexed, still linked, and still sending traffic — which is exactly the opposite of a launch-day traffic spike that evaporates by Thursday.

    Indexed fast

Publishing submits every affected URL to IndexNow, refreshes the RSS feed and updates the sitemap. More importantly, your product appears on the homepage, its category, its week and your profile within one deploy — internal links are what actually get pages crawled; the pings just accelerate it.

Common questions

Will a UneedLists listing improve my search ranking?

It gives you an indexable page with real structured data and a do-follow link from a domain that keeps its link profile clean. That is a genuine input, not a guarantee — nobody can promise a ranking, and anyone who does is selling you something. The largest factor remains your own site.

How is this different from other directories?

Most directories are a database with a template on top: one thin page per product, no long-form content, an unmaintained link graph, and do-follow links on everything until Google discounts the whole domain. The differences here are that thin pages are gated rather than published, the link policy is tiered by verification, and every product generates alternatives, comparison, category and archive pages that link back to it.

What do I have to do to get the do-follow link?

Verify the domain — a DNS TXT record or a file at a known path — and write a real page. Verification is deliberately a small amount of friction, because it is what makes spam submissions uneconomic.

How long until my page is indexed?

Usually days rather than weeks. On publish we submit to IndexNow (Bing, Yandex and others act on this within hours) and the page immediately gains internal links from the homepage, its category, its launch week and your profile. Google crawls on its own schedule; we do not use the Indexing API for product pages because that would be outside its documented scope.
